Madeira News: NEW YEAR FIREWORKS

December 31st

The fireworks show lasts for about eight minutes and is distributed by several fireworks stations in the Funchal amphitheatre, the waterfront, the city centre, the sea and one station on Porto Santo Island.

This grand spectacle that is one of Madeira’s most important tourist events, was internationally recognised in 2006 by the Guinness Book of Records as “The largest fireworks show in the World”.

Madeira News: Unmissable WATERFALLS include VEU DA NOIVA(Bridal Veil) Waterfall

Situated on the old road which connects Seixal to São Vicente, you can see the Véu da Noiva Waterfall, which resembles a bride’s veil, due to its height and the torrents of water that gush down the hillside.
From this location there is also a pleasant view of the Atlantic and the slopes of the northern coast of Madeira.

“During this week, Il Basilico restaurante, Funchal is introducing new creations cooked up by our guest chefs and a new exclusive menu where the most popular dishes over the course of the festival become the restaurant’s new menu !!

To open the Italy with Soul festival, on Monday we have an Ensemble of PortoBay Chefs !! Benoît Sinthon from The Cliff Bay hotel, Klaus Leichtenmüller from the Porto Santa Maria hotel, Alcino Marques and Jorg Zimmermann from the Vila Porto Mare resort and Cristiano Cutietta from Il Basilico restaurant come together to pay homage to the flavours of Italy.

We will also have a special guest !! The Italian chef Giorgio Damasio who will present his specialities throughout the week. ..”
